Band Factory

If you play an instrument and want to be part of a band, Band Factory offers rehearsal space and staff who can provide guidance on songwriting, arranging and performance skills. Either come with a ready-made band or on your own and join another!

Noise from the Next Generation

Our yearly "Battle of the Bands" style competition! There are two age categories, and great prizes for the winners. Open to bands with members aged 11-19, this is a great opportunity to see what other young bands have come up with, play in great venues, and get some constructive feedback on performances.

Bloco Notto (Samba)

Bloco Notto is our senior samba percussion group held at College Street on Thursday evenings, and have played at various events throughout the city. Members must be aged 11-19 and have some knowledge of rhythm or percussion already. Click "NMS World Musics" for more info.

Formerly 'Satellite Band Factory', InstruMental runs at Hyson Green Youth Club on Tuesdays during term time between 5-7pm. We offer free tuition on Drums, Guitar, Bass, Keyboard and Vocals and provide a place for 11-19 year olds to learn an instrument as well as practice in a band. All levels of ability are welcome, though more advanced players may prefer to join Band Factory at Nottingham Music School.

NMS World Music

World Music sessions provide mainly percussion tuition on instruments originating from around the world such as Taiko, Samba and Djembe drums. You don't need experience of playing, just an interest in learning percussion!

Sing City

This annual singing competition takes place in November each year, and is open to singers aged 11-19. Entrants must attend a Nottingham City school or college, and the winner will have the opportunity to perform at our Christmas Events in either the Albert Hall or Royal Concert Hall!

YMCA Digital

We are partnered with a group called YMCA digital, who run free weekly sessions for 11-19 year olds in Music, Film, Dance, Drama, Art, Design, Creative Writing and Radio, and run their own events and competitions such as a battle of the bands as well as training sessions led by industry professionals.
